Gorilla Tours Uganda & Wildlife- 7 Days

This safari starts and ends in Kampala. It offers a thrilling opportunity to experience Uganda’s biodiversity. This tour will take you through three Ugandan National Parks:
Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
When it comes to chimp tracking, take a safari to Kibale Forest National Park, reputable of having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys and many others
Queen Elizabeth National park boasts one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game reserve in the world. With  almost 100 mammal species and a remarkable 606 bird species makes this superb safari territory, with elephant, a profusion of hippos, the elusive giant forest hog and handsome Uganda Kob all regularly sighted around the tourist village on the Mweya Peninsula - which also boasts a marvelous waterfront setting in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains.
Uganda’s star attraction is the endangered Mountain Gorilla, the bulkiest of living primate, and among the most peaceable. The best place in all of Uganda to witness the mountain gorilla is Bwindi National Park. Encountering these gentle giants is a highlight in any African journey!


Gorilla Tours Uganda - Detailed Itinerary


Day 1: Kampala – Kibale National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel by your safari guide at 8.00 am and be driven to Kibale National Park.Drive west via Mityana to Fort Portal, passing though verdant countryside and traditional homesteads and farms. Have picnic lunch en route and continue to Kibale forest National Park. On arrival, you will check in and relax at the lodge, then later in the afternoon explore the nearby crater lakes. Dinner and overnight at Ndali lodge/ Primates Lodge/ Forest Tree Campsite/Chimps’ Nest.


Day 2: Chimp tours.
Up relatively early, you will have breakfast to report to the ranger station in Kibale National Park at 08.00am. You will reach the station to be briefed about tracking, the forest walks and how to behave while with the great apes.
The chimpanzee is the star attraction in this park and these great apes are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play. You will then walk along the different tracks in the forest in groups for these great apes. During the walk you may stop to listen to the calls of the chimps to avoid bypassing them. The walk will be guided, providing information about chimps, other primates, fauna and flora making it informative and interesting.  After the tracking the chimps, you will have lunch and then go for a nature walk to Bigodi wetland sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at Primates lodge/ Forest tree Campsite/Chimps’ Nest.

Day 3: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park tours
Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park located in the foothills of the Mountains of the moon, one of the great mountain ranges of the world. As you continue to the park you may see different animals and birds given that the park has got about 100 mammal species and a remarkable 606 bird species. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana Lodge/Katara Lodge/Institute of Ecology.


Day 4: Chimp trekking and Boat trip along Kazinga Channel
Early morning drive to Kyambura Gorge for a thrilling Chimpanzee safari. The gorge is the natural home of chimpanzees. Your guided walk in search of the chimps and other primates, may last several hours. Alternatively visit the Maramagambo Forest where you will see the bat cave, the blue lake and several primates. After lunch, enjoy a cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which joins Lake Edward and Lake George. This waterway is filled with schools of hippos and buffalos. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana Lodge/Katara Lodge/Institute of Ecology.


Day 5: Day 5 Wildlife Tours through the Ishasha Sector and Bwindi
Early Start for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, passing either via Ishasha, well known for the tree climbing lion, or through an alternative route passing through cultivated expanses. After lunch, go for a nature walk or a community visit. Dinner and Overnight at Engagi Lodge/ Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas.


Day 6: Gorilla Tours Uganda - Bwindi Forest.
Uganda’s star attraction is the endangered mountain gorilla, the bulkiest of living primate, and among the most peaceable. With approximately 50% of the world’s mountain gorilla population, it’s easy to see why we call Uganda the ‘Land of the Mountain Gorillas’. The best place in all of Uganda to witness the mountain gorilla is Bwindi National Park. Encountering these gentle giants is a highlight in any African journey!
After an early breakfast, report to the ranger station for registration and briefing by one of the ranger guides. Enter the gorilla sanctuary for tracking, pushing your way through the undergrowth and parting thick creepers. If you have the afternoon free, you may decide to take a guided walk on the Munyanga River trail, which is an ideal short walk or take a guided  village walk to see how Ugandan live. Dinner and Overnight at Engagi Lodge/ Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas.


Day 7: Bwindi to Kampala:
After a morning breakfast, take a hike in the forest which will provide more relaxed opportunities to spot birds and monkeys while exploring one of Uganda’s loveliest rainforests. Return to Kampala with great memories of and moments spent with the fascinating mountain Gorillas. You will have a stopover in Mbarara for lunch. Drop-off to your respective accommodation in Kampala or transfer to the Airport to catch your flight.
